How to Create an Emergency Preparedness Kit for Your Family
Disasters can happen with little warning. Every home should have a 72-hour emergency kit. Here's what you need:
- Water – at least 4 litres per person per day
- Non-perishable food for 3 days
- Manual can opener, flashlight, batteries, candles
- First aid kit, prescription meds, hygiene items
- Copies of important documents and cash
- Cell phone charger, radio, local maps
Store your kit in a waterproof bin and check it twice a year. Visit our Residential Services page for more safety resources.
